Police are accusing a Putnam County thrift shop worker of stealing antiques from a woman’s home and placing them for sale at the shop.

New York State Police from Brewster arrested 74-year-old Carmine Baioni, of Carmel for 2nd-degree burglary, a class C felony.

State Police were contacted by a Southeast woman who reported that several items, valued at over $800, had gone missing from her Route 22 home.

Police say an investigation revealed that Baioni, who worked at a local thrift shop, unlawfully entered the victim’s home and removed the items.

Many of the items, which were antiques, were allegedly found by authorities for sale at Baioni’s thrift shop.

Baioni was in the Town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Southeast Court on July 18.
