During an argument with a co-worker a Putnam County man allegedly picked up a nail gun and fired several nails at his co-worker.

Putnam County Police responded to the Tilly Foster Farm at 100 Route 312 in the Town of Southeast for a report of a male subject firing a nail gun at a co-worker. According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the two employees of the Putnam County Highway Department started an argument over the use of a ladder.

Police allege that during an altercation, 55-year-old Santino Pietrosani, of Mahopac, picked up a nail gun and fired several 3-inche nails in the direction of the accuser, nearly striking the accuser in the head. An eyewitness verified the accuser’s account of the incident.

Prior to police arrival Pietrosani was relieved of his duties by a supervisor and directed to report to the Highway Department offices at 842 Fair Street in the Town of Patterson.

Pietrosani was located by police at that location and charged with 2nd-degree menacing and 2nd-degree reckless endangerment, misdemeanors. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

A temporary order of protection against Pietrosani was issued on behalf of the complainant.
