A Putnam County man is accused of driving drunk into a ditch and later assaulting family members.

On Wednesday around 10:20 p.m., New York State Police from Brewster responded to a report of a dispute. An investigation revealed that 29-year-old Christopher W. Scully of Patterson crashed his car into a ditch on South Lake Drive, police say.

Scully later failed at his attempts to remove his vehicle from the ditch with another vehicle. Following his failed attempts, he’s accused of starting a physical altercation with family members, injuring two.

When one family member called 911, Scully fled the scene. He was found on Ruthland Drive and taken into custody.

Scully was charged with unlicensed operation and driving while intoxicated, both felonies, and misdemeanor assault.

Scully was charged with felony DWI due to a previous DWI related conviction from 2013, police say.

He was arraigned in the Town of Patterson Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Patterson Court on Feb. 14.
