Police say a Danbury man has been arrested after he allegedly killed a dog during an altercation with his spouse.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance on Osbourne street at around 8:20 PM last night (May 4). While they were trying to sort the reports out, police say that 39-year-old, Wesley Texeira DeSouza of Danbury had arrived home and got into a very violent physical altercation with his significant other.

After the altercation, DeSouza allegedly assaulted and killed a small dog before leaving the home. It's been reported that two minor children where home while this whole incident transpired.

During the investigation, Danbury officers found DeSouza at a friend's residence, where he was taken into custody.

Wesley Texeira DeSouza was arrested and charged with strangulation, disorderly conduct, assault, threatening, cruelty to animals, and two counts of risk of injury. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
