A Brewster High School student has been arrested after police say he made threats against the school.

According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, 2018 will not end on a high note for one 16-year-old local teen. Police say that on Tuesday, Dec. 18, they visited the unidentified Brewster student's home after it was reported that he made threats toward the school through his social media outlets.

After a thorough investigation that involved a security check of both the student's home and another home that he is said to visit often, the sheriff's department says that they gathered enough information to arrest the teen and charge him accordingly. He has since been released into the custody of his father.

The Putnam Country Sheriff Department noted that this is still an ongoing investigation and that they're working alongside both State and Federal enforcement agencies to bring the situation to a conclusion.
