This Friday, Nov.11 is Veterans Day. A day to recognize the sacrifice and service our men and women in the armed forces gave to this great country.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. President Woodrow Wilson declared Nov.11 as Armistice Day renamed Veteran's Day in 1954. This special federal holiday was set aside as a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

Veteran's Day events are scheduled in all parts of Connecticut. In Danbury, the Danbury Council of Veterans invite you to the Veteran's Day ceremony this Friday, Nov.11 at 11am at the War Memorial Building at Roger's Park.
