I love local seafood, and you should eat some tomorrow!

Good Friday is tomorrow, as a practicing Catholic, you're told to avoid eating meat on Friday through the Lenten season. No problem. The ocean is where the good food is at anyway!

Being that Connecticut is on the Atlantic Ocean, fresh seafood is abundant. My suggested snack?

Steamed Littleneck clams. So good!

Here's what to do: get two dozen fresh littleneck clams at pretty much any local grocery store. Give them a rinse, and put two inches of water into a steamer pot. Stir in two tablespoons of flake sea salt (Maldon sea salt is the best), and bring it to a rolling boil.

When it's boiling, it's time for the clams to meet their timely fate. Let them steam for about 4-5 minutes, covered. When the ocean smell starts filling your kitchen, check on them.

If they're open? They're ready to eat.

If some of them haven't opened, cover the pot and let them steam for a couple more minutes. If they don't open then? Throw them out! Dead clams are the highway to getting sick, and you don't want to take that trip, trust me.

Melt about a quarter stick of unsalted butter, and dip these briny morsels in the butter and chow down.
