Things you need to know on May 21.

Thanks to MetroNews Source for the following.

  • GREAT news for your Memorial Day weekend! Connecticut's Department of Transportation says all routine construction and road maintenance is being suspended over the weekend. The only exceptions will be in the event that emergency road repairs are needed. Here's to a happy and safe Memorial Day.
  • Connecticut government officials are helping folks in the state with the recent airbag recall. Takata recalled around 34 million vehicles with defective air bags on Tuesday. Gov. Dannel Malloy expects recall repairs to be free for those affected. Click on SaferCar.gov for info.
  • If shopping is in your plans for Memorial Day weekend then you NEED to know this. The Mashantucket Pequot tribe yesterday opened the doors at the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods. With 80 stores in the mix, you should be able to shop 'til you drop!
  • I love my booze ... but this one may be just even too weird for me. A distillery in England is using ants to help flavor a limited edition brand of gin. The Cambridge Distillery and the Nordic Food Lab have teamed up to make "Anty Gin" from distilled red wood ants. Through the distillation process a pheromone the ant produces as a defense mechanism blends with the other ingredients to produce a unique flavor and aroma. The Cambridge Distillery says about 62 ants are used for each bottle. Pretty sure I'm saying "NO!"
