Last Thursday morning (August 9) was not a good morning for two Newtown teens, as a defective light on their vehicle ended up getting one of them arrested with a half pound of marijuana.

According to a post on the Newtown Police Department's Facebook page, Police stopped a vehicle traveling up Church Hill Road with defective lighting equipment. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the car.  Upon further investigation, the passenger in the vehicle was arrested and charged with illegal possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell. The total amount of pot found was over half a pound, and packaging materials were found as well.

Both the car's driver and passenger were under 18. The juvenile driver was issued an infraction for driving a vehicle with defective equipment and violating passenger restrictions. Both teens were released to their parents.
