It's a picturesque campus that houses some of the most promising minds in America, but on a spring evening last year it became the scene of a tragic crime.

According to newly released documents by Gawker, three students; Alexander Michaud, Tyler Carlisle and an unnamed female undergraduate were engaging in a three-way sex after a night of drinking when things went terribly wrong.

According to the report obtained by Gawker from the New Haven Police Department via the Freedom of Information Act, Carlisle allegedly attacked his friend and fellow student Michaud with a knife after becoming jealous.

Carlisle reportedly stabbed his long time friend in the neck and then killed himself by jumping to his death from his ninth floor window.

Michaud was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and has since recovered from a puncture wound to the neck. The woman was unharmed.  Both Michaud and the woman still apparently attend Yale, but refuse to speak to the press.

That is crazy stuff right there. You have these kids who worked their tails off to get there —and they're working again towards what in most cases will end up being a blessed life... and this happens.

It goes to show that no matter how bright they are, they are still college kids who party and make poor mistakes. Being a parent of a college student has to be scary.  I'm a dad of three little boys and I don't look forward to them going away to a place where I know there will be unsupervised partying.
