As of July 1, new laws regarding DUI offenses have been put into place by the State of Connecticut.

According to the Danbury Daily Voice, the rules for someone being convicted of drunk driving have become more strict. As of a few days ago, someone who is convicted a first time of DUI, will need to have a breathalyzer installed into their car's ignition system.

The Ignition Interlock Device will require drivers to blow into the tube prior to starting their car. If the blood alcohol content is above the legal limit, the car will not start.

The CT Department of Motor Vehicles claims that, the driver must pay for their own device, which costs about $75 to install and $75 per month to maintain. They also require about $275 in DMV fees during the installation as well.

I honestly think this is the BEST idea ever. How many times have you gotten into the car after feeling completely fine after having a couple beers? Those 2-3 beers could result in a DUI, believe it or not. If not these, a personal breathalyzer is a good idea too!
