My daughter arrived on Saturday morning. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Her name is Vida Lucia. She has already stolen my heart. I knew as soon as I saw her that my life would never be the same, and for that, I am grateful. I am grateful for the ease she has granted me already.

This is my fourth child, so I was certain I knew how I would feel when she finally got here. I was wrong, as I often am.

What I feel for this little girl is indescribable. I have nothing to compare it to. I do know that the rest of my life will be spent making sure her life is all it can be and more. She is now the heart of our family.

My three boys are uncontrollably happy to have a sister. They are curious about their new sibling and have been nothing but helpful with their little sister. I am so proud of my wife, Erica. What she went through during the pregnancy and the birth is a real testament to her mental and physical makeup. I already knew she was an amazing woman, but I see her in a whole new light now.

Life is full of struggles, stresses, highs and lows. I will soak this up, and appreciate that there is no higher high than this one. Welcome to the world, angel. Mom and Dad are now, and always will be, by your side.
