When the Brookfield School District received their new budget for the next school year, there was something missing, over a half million dollars. The district has announced more budget cuts that will affect students and teachers during the 2018-2019 school year.

According to patch.com, the school board had already announced that computer labs would not be upgraded, a secretarial position would not be filled, tutors would be used instead of hiring a new teacher, club stipends would be reduced, a ride share program would be cut, and a new principal would be brought in at a lower salary.

But wait, now there's more. The school board has announced more cuts in other areas. Here's the latest:

Travel and conference budgets will be reduced, cuts were also made in purchasing updated versions of text books and instructional supplies, outside extended duty pay will be cut, and full time employees Medicare benefits will be reduced.

So once the smoke clears, how will residents react to the latest cut backs? Only time will tell. If you have a comment, you can leave it below or post it on our Facebook page.
