From the Huff Post Weird News comes the story of a monkey who's claiming ownership of his selfies. The macaque monkey has become quite famous recently for all the selfie photos it's been able to take. For some reason PETA has filed a lawsuit in Federal court in San Franciso seeking a court order allowing PETA to administer all earnings from the sales of the monkey's photos.

Animal rights activists claim the monkey has the rights to the selfies because the monkey actually took the selfies rather than the nature photographer who positioned the camera for the monkey. The photos were taken during a trip to Sulawesi by British nature photographer, David Slater, who published a book titled, "Wildlife Personalities" which contained the monkey's selfies. The "monkey selfies" have also been distributed to various outlets including Wikipedia. David Slater weighed in by saying, "The facts are that I was the intellect behind the photos. I set the whole thing up. The monkey only pressed a button on a camera that was set up on a tripod - a tripod I positioned and held throughout the shoot."

The "Monkey Sefies" story goes on and on and on with different individuals and organizations weighing in on whether the monkey should collect the cash for pushing the camera button or not. I will spare you all that crap. Instead, enjoy this three minute segment from a "Seinfeld" episode where Kramer gets into it with a zoo monkey!
