Mmmm, Where to Buy Your Thanksgiving Pies
After a gargantuan Thanksgiving meal, usually the last thing you're thinking about is stuffing more food in your face, like dessert. In my humble opinion, give it a rest for an hour or two before you indulge in dessert and coffee. If you're a dessert fan like myself, waiting on a big hunk of apple or pumpkin pie is the way to go, unless you get stuck sitting next to Uncle Ned who's farting up a storm! If you're in charge of bringing the pies this year, don't let everyone down by bringing sucky ones. Don't bake your own pies if you're a first timer. Trust me, they WILL suck! You might not think so, but everyone else will. The only avenue to pursue here is to purchase your pies, BUT only at my recommended locations. Make sure you call first to order your holiday pies.

American Pie Company - Sherman, CT
Everything is homemade at American Pie Company and they're also an excellent restaurant. From Pumpkin to Strawberry Rhubarb to Chocolate Cream, this is one of the best places to buy your pies for Thanksgiving. Just tell everyone you made it yourself. Who's gonna know?
- 2
Costco - Brookfield, CT
Don't laugh, Costco has a large bakery full of delectable goodies and they are all amazing, especially their pies. Plus, because they're Costco, they sell humongous "everything," including pies that could feed a colony of pigrims!

Goode Shoppe - New Fairfield
Proprietor, Mark Jayson, bakes everything from scratch at the Goode Shoppe, from breads to muffins, cakes to cookies, cannolies to pies. Try the "Black & Whites!"

Blue Jay Orchards - Bethel
Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel has closed their pumpkin patch for the season but you can still bring the kids to pick apples. Their bakery is open from 11 to 5pm in November. Their pies are outrageous, just make sure to order them right now for Thanksgiving. While you're there, you must pick up a dozen of their "Famous Cider Donuts."

Blue Colony Diner - Newtown
The Blue Colony Diner, just off Exit 10 of I-84 is a local legend serving the greater Danbury area for 43 years. You might say, "diners are all the same." Not so my friends. The servers are friendly and conversational, the food is consistently top notch, and the pie, my God the pie! Save some room for a piece of warm apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All of the baking is done on the premises, but again, call them now to order for Thanksgiving.
