Here's part 6 of the ongoing series: Mixing it up with Pam Brooks
Punxsutawney Phil told us that Spring is coming early. Nothing says warm weather like a great Sangria. However, we are still in the throes of Winter months. So, what to drink? Jeff Drucker, store manager and Wine Director at MAX Wine & Spirits in Danbury, taught me the joy of Winter Spiced Cranberry Sangria. All I can say is, yum!
Here's the recipe for this amazing Winter Spiced Cranberry Sangria:
2 Cups Fresh Cranberries, 2 Granny Smith Apples ( diced ), 1/2 cup Spiced Simple Syrup ( recipe - ChowHound.com ) add 3/4 cup Cointreau and a 1/2 cup Port Wine to the Spiced Simple Syrup. Then combine 1 ( 750-milliliter ) bottle Tempranillo Rose' Wine, another 1/2 cup Port wine and another 1/2 cup of Cointreau, 1/2 cup Cranberry Juice. Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher, pour and enjoy.
Wine, Port and Cointreau can be purchased at MAX Wine & Spirits on 40A Mill Plain Road in Danbury Connecticut. 203-792-7777
