Forget New Haven, you have to go to the bucolic hamlet of Middlebury for great pies.

Blarney Stone Pizza, located at 492 Middlebury Road in Middlebury, makes great pizza and wings. So much so, that I've ordered from them back to back weeks recently. They're located on the side of a Mobil gas station along RT. 64. I used to get my propane tanks filled where their entrance is, and I'll tell you, I'm glad that I can fill up with their pizza rather than their propane. I ordered two different pies. The first one I ordered is the Seamus' Pie: meatballs, onions, and roasted peppers

Oh my lord it's good. Paper-thin crust, loaded with cheese and great slices of meatball.

The second pie I inhaled is called The Murphy: Steak, American cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Delicious.

Also worth noting is that Blarney Stone knows how to make chicken wings. They offer deep fried selections, double dipped and double sauced, naked, dry, and a variety of flavors. Excellent.

Blarney Stone Pizza does takeout and delivery, very convenient.

In addition to Blarney Stone Pizza, right across RT. 64 from them at 489 Middlebury Road is 8 Fifty Pizza. 8 Fifty creates their pizza in an Italian wood-fired oven. Incredible authentic Italian dishes abound on their menu, highly recommended.

Our third stop in Middlebury is Pies & Pints, located right off Rt. 64 at 1 Store Road. Serving up a more traditional style of pizza, Pies & Pints does a lot of business in their end of town, and their craft beer selection is top-notch!
