It's sad that the need for clinics continue to be strong across the country.

Every day, it seems we read another story about addiction and the heroin epidemic that is sweeping the nation. Addiction has dug itself in here in Connecticut, and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight, but a key to trying to find a way out from under any addiction is getting treatment as quickly as possible.

To that end, the New Haven Register is reporting that a new methadone clinic will be open soon in West Haven. It comes as no surprise that people in the surrounding area have some trepidation about the outpatient substance abuse clinic that is under construction on Front Avenue, but experts say that finding a substance-abuse treatment close to home is the key to a successful recovery.

This new location is expected to be open in July, and it's part of the non-profit APT Foundation, which also has locations in New Haven and North Haven.
