We have Danbury Mayor Mark Bougton on every week. We talk about what's new in the city, maybe do some national politics, and have a laugh.

It's also no secret we have been become buddies away from the show. When he promised to make his run for Governor official on our show, however, I did not expect it to happen.

I knew he had a press conference today and a bunch of political necessities to take care of, and figured he would just make it clear he would run without actually saying it. I knew that saying it here on our show would kind of kill any anticipation for the press conference later today. To his credit, he did it anyway.

He made the official announcement on a show that lives in the shallow end of the pool. Good for him for keeping his word.

We wish Mark the best of luck in his pursuit of Connecticut's highest office. He has a lot of work to do to get there, and even more work if he gets elected. We are the first to have it, even though you will hear someone else claiming to be the first over the next 24 hours.

P.S. — We were first. We had it first. We win, they lose. Who are "they", you ask? Anyone who is not us. WIN.
