This whole situation could have had a much worse ending. Thankfully, the officer who was hit is okay.

According to NBC Connecticut, Christopher Reh allegedly told his family that he wanted to kill police officers. He was reported missing early Wednesday evening, after he made the statement and was armed with a knife.

A Silver Alert was issued and police began searching for Reh. Police said they found him on Park Street, where he allegedly "rammed a police cruiser" with his car hitting a Hartford police officer in the process as they tried to talk to him .

According to the law enforcement officials, Reh also "hit a couple of other cruisers" and "crashed into a building." The officer that was knocked to the ground was able to fire his gun and ended up shooting Reh twice.

The injured police officer is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Hartford Hospital and underwent a CAT scan. He is in stable condition.

Reh is also in stable condition at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford.

The police are investigating as to whether this was a "suicide-by-cop" attempt.
