Things you need to know on June 8.

Thanks to MetroNews Source for the following.

  • Many people I know either have had Lyme Disease or at the very least know someone who has. Because of it's prevalence Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling for increased federal funding for Lyme disease research by again introducing a bill designed to develop better tools for diagnosing and reporting the disease. The measure would also seek to increase awareness and education about Lyme in the medical community.
  • Wait until you hear what you could be brushing your teeth with! Quinnipiac University researchers found that toothbrushes in communal bathrooms were contaminated with fecal matter more than 60 percent of the time. Of those brushes that were contaminated, there was an 80 percent chance that the feces came from another person. To add insult to injury - doctors say there's no specific cleaning method that would help decontaminate the brushes. Gee, thanks for that.
  • You all know how I love shoes and of course the higher the heel the better. But, I do wear flats too. Something that the iconic Barbie Doll has never done until now. Mattel just announced that new Barbie dolls will have adjustable ankles, allowing them to wear flats for the first time ever. Barbie has been stuck wearing high heels since the doll debuted in 1959. Now Barbie will be able to wear sandals, slippers and Mary Janes.
