I was watching the news last night when this little tidbit of information made me drool. ABC News reports that Rhode Island Governor, Gina Raimondo, has declared March 21-27 Quahog Week in our tiny neighbor to the East. Rhode Island has long been known for their incredible seafood industry. I love getting 'Stuffies' at the Rhode Island building at The Big E. The best Point Judith Calamari I have ever eaten came from Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingstown, RI.

But the Quahogs/clams? Oh man. I could inhale 15 dozen of those things right this second. My father introduced me to eating them on the half shell when I was a kid. And I fell in love with steamed clams served up by the infamous Como the Clam Man in bars around the greater Waterbury area during my late teens and 20's. I'm a seasoned veteran of clam chowing now, and if you're like me, get to Rhode Island this week. 16 restaurants are serving up Quahogs in many ways at special prices.
