The roof leaks, food options are hideous, and it's always crowded. These are just three of the reasons LaGuardia was named the worst designed airport by Thrillist.com.

The folks at Thrillist.com talked with travel experts, pilots and flight attendants, frequent flyers, former baggage handlers, and drew from their own experiences to come up with the "The 10 Worst-Designed Airports In America," and the results are not good news for New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut travelers.

The following are the Top 5 Worst Airports according to Thrillist.com:

1. LaGuardia Airport (New York City) - Reasons: Bad food options, dirty, always crowded, roof leaks, holes in the carpet. VP Joe Biden recently referred to LaGuardia as a "third world country." The good news is that it's undergoing a $4 billion restoration. But will it ever be completed in our lifetime?

2. Newark Liberty International Airport (Newark, New Jersey) - Reasons: Near the top in cancelled flights, long lines for check-ins, long lines for security, long waits on the tarmac, and long lines to the gate after landing, ugly, and dirty. I'm beginning to get the impression that Thrillist.com isn't all that fond of the tri-state area.

3. Chicago's Midway International Airport - Thrillist calls this airport, "The Ninth Circle of Hell." It sounds to me like this reviewer just broke up with their hipster girlfriend. Other reasons it earned its #3 worst rating was the incredibly long security lines. Thrillist said they didn't want to hear any bitching and moaning about O'Hare Airport if they've never flown out of Midway before.

4. Chicago O'Hare International Airport - O'Hare is considered the busiest airport in the world in terms of the number of flights it handles on a yearly basis which is around 900,000! It's also the airport with the worst flight delays. It's said to be unnecessarily complicated, has bad signage, has a shabby and dated appearance, and has the most late connections.

5. John F. Kennedy International Airport - According to the Thrillist's writers, Kennedy sucks the least of the other two New York airports. The biggest gripe about Kennedy is it can take up to an hour to get to another part of the terminal to catch your connecting flight.

The bottom line here is that the three New York airports hit the trifecta when it comes to being the most hideous airports in the country or the Thrillist.com writers, who compiled the survey, may have been constipated with anger issues.
