This is news to me people! I've never even heard of a sport called "Knockerball" until I read the article in the News-Times about teenage Knockerball coming to Newtown. According to the Knockerball website, knockerball is "a single chamber inflatable sphere with inner handles and adjustable shoulder straps." The sphere can be used by one person to perfect rolls and flips but the fun begins when you have two or more "knockerballers" banging into each other.

If you're familiar with soccer and dodgeball and don't have a problem slamming into other people wrapped in a huge padded shaped ball, Knockerball could be your new favorite sport. Newtown is offering teenagers a chance to play Knockerball on Wednesdays from 6 to 7pm at the Hawley Elementary School, 29 Church Hill Road. The town provides the giant bubble balls and it's not a league with coaches, goalies, or positions, just big fun! The fee is $60 and runs through October 7.

Knockerball leagues have been forming all over the country including here in Middletown, Connecticut. Leagues for "Knocker Soccer" are forming now and begin October 24. Check out their Facebook page for all the information. I must admit it looks like a blast!  It's a fun way to relieve stress, get your frustrations out, and laugh your ass off, all at the same time.
