I first noticed Nodine's Smokehouse bacon in the Labonne's Supermarket coolers. I bought a package, decided it was some of the best I've had, and have continued to purchase it for the past couple of years.

On a recent day trip, my wife and I decided to explore Northwestern CT. As we were making our way back to Waterbury down Rt. 63, we passed through Goshen, and lo and behold, there was Nodine's Smokehouse. I had no idea that, although their main operations are in Torrington, they operate a charming little retail outlet in Goshen.

I pulled my car into the driveway, and saw the retail outlet that sits behind the main house on the property. We strolled in and were warmly greeted by the two ladies that were working behind the counter.

Nodine's sells all kinds of smoked meats and cheeses. In addition to their delicious bacon, Berkshire, spiral-cut, boneless, and apple smoked hams, plus many more varieties are available. Andouille sausage, local beef steaks, kielbasa, English-style Banger sausage, venison, buffalo, pork loin and chops, and golden brown chicken breasts were all lined up in the coolers ready for purchase.

I'm a huge beef jerky fan, so I purchased a quarter pound of the dried beef treasure to bring home.

Pictured above is my favorite butcher knife next to two links of Nodine's beef jerky. I had to use the knife to chop the jerky into smaller strips, these things were huge!

Perfectly seasoned, with a peppery/soy/smoky flavor. Some of the best fresh beef jerky that I've ever tasted.

If you're searching for a great stop on one of your day trips, and you're a big carnivore like me, put Nodine's on your radar. It's a family-run place that's been smoking it up with the best of them since 1969. I highly recommend their products. Nodine's also ships their products anywhere in case you can't make it to their retail outlet. More info can be found by clicking on the link below.
