Thrillist went on a mission to find the most “iconic” restaurants in each state across this great country. And this is what they came up with for Connecticut.

All of the restaurants on their list are at least 30 years old, and are still the go-to place in their area. These restaurants might not have the greatest food, but they are well known in their state.

And the winner in Connecticut is …

Louis’ Lunch at 261-263 Crown St. in New Haven

Louis’ Lunch has been around since 1895, and according to Thrillist, Louis’ Lunch was declared the birthplace of the hamburger sandwich by the Library of Congress.

At Louis’ Lunch … they do it old school.

They still use their original cast-iron grills and only serve up burgers with cheese, tomato and onion. If you’re looking for ketchup or mustard you are S.O.L.

So, do you agree with Thrillist’s choice for Connecticut? Take our poll and tell us in the comments!
