There’s something suspicious about Friday’s incident in Fairfield, CT where police found a radioactive device in the trunk of a car on Kings Highway.

Well, at least in the minds of local skeptics.

Conspiracy theorists websites like Infowars,  End Times Headlines and Godlike Productions have all posted blogs linking to the story on the incident.

FoxCT reports that three men were pulled over for having mis-matched tags on their car, which had a Troxler Gauge, used to detect soil densities, in the trunk.

One of three passengers was arrested, since this device isn't supposed to be transported in a passenger vehicle. One passenger said the device belonged to his brother.

The company who owned the device, which emits low levels of radiation, was called to retrieve it, NBC Connecticut reports. The incident shut down Kings Highway, in the area of Villa Avenue until 3 p.m.

Both the Connecticut State Police Bomb Square and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were called to the scene.

So, what has conspiracy theorists in tizzy? A few things (shocker) …

Apparently what got Infowars is the fact that “police have not released details on how the radioactive device ended up in the car.”

Enter the paranoid commenters.

“Why were they scanning cars? What are they 'prepping' us for?” asks one person in the Godlike Productions forum.

Then sensibility makes an appearance where people argue over the whether this is acommon device on construction sites. One person writes, “These meth-head nitwits stole it think they could sell it for scrap metal (they weigh a ton, lots of lead shielding.)”

Then the comments just get completely whacked out (but VERY entertaining) and include tangents on liberals, Obama and even Hiroshima.

Then it just gets incoherent after that.

So what do you think about this radioactive device being found in Connecticut?
