Another iconic Classic Rocker makes his way to the Ridgefield Playhouse, as Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Roger McGuinn will appear there on June 12.

McGuinn made a name for himself as a session musician in New York City, playing on records by artists such as Judy Collins and Simon & Garfunkel.  After moving to Los Angeles, he founded the Byrds with Gene Clark.  Their Rocked-up version of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" made it to Number One and helped jumpstart the sound known as folk-rock.

The Byrds had many great albums and songs throughout the 60's and early 70's, and McGuinn will be playing them all at the Playhouse: "Eight Miles High," "So You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star," "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better."

McGuinn and the Byrds' impact on music was immediate and huge.  Their sound can be heard in the music of artists such as the Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, REM and many more.

Tickets for the show are available here. Here's one of my favorite Byrds songs:
