Here's some stories making headlines on April 21st.

  • Yesterday lawmakers in Connecticut debated whether the state should help fund the Yard Goats baseball stadium being built in Hartford. A new bill would allow a portion of the ballpark ticket tax to go towards the 60-million dollar stadium project. The money would be used to help pay off bond's financing the ballparks construction.
  •  Airport workers will have to go through extra security to get their jobs. According to the new regulations, airport and airline employees will have to face increased screening as well as random screening throughout the day. They'll also have reduced access to secure areas.
  •  Under a proposal in Governor Malloy's budget, the state wants to eliminate $93,000 in funding for Connecticut's two horse guard companies - one of which is the on the Fairfield Hills campus. The new cuts represent a real threat to the oldest continuously ACTIVE mounted cavalry unit in the United States.
  •  R.I.P. Betty Willis. Betty is the woman who designed  the iconic "fabulous Las Vegas" sign that has welcomed visitors since 1959. Betty passed away at the age of 91 over the weekend.
