I have a Donkey Kong Jr. craving lately

If the names Zaxxon, Pole Position, Q-Bert, Missile Command and Jungle Hunt mean anything to you, you are getting old. You probably grew up in the glorious 70's and 80's in video arcades or amusement centers. I've spent thousands of dollars and hours standing in front of those cabinets, joystick in hand, furiously hitting the jump button.

I drove through Waterbury's Colonial Plaza recently, and stared at the empty space that once was Crazy Eight. The same sense of nostalgia runs through my veins as I stroll through the Danbury Fair food court and see the space where Time Out used to be.

If you feel like taking a road trip, there are still operational arcades in driving distance from Connecticut. My wife and I... well.. I love, stopping into FUNSPOT, located in Weirs Beach (Laconia), New Hampshire. The photo above was taken last year. Funspot has over 200 original, fully-operational arcade games. Check out their website for a complete list of games by clicking HERE.  Dave and Buster's near the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester, CT has quite a few video games, but Funspot is a truly authentic 70's/80's old-school arcade.

Get out your rolls of quarters and sign me up if you're up to taking the road trip to New Hampshire next Summer, I'll destroy you in Joust
