The celebration is on in Connecticut's capital this Saturday, so bundle up and get ready to party.

Time to start your, if you will, pre-game activities heading up to the big day. St.Patrick's Day is a Friday this year, so the best way to ratchet up excitement is too head into Hartford Connecticut this Saturday March 11 for the 46th Annual Greater Hartford St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Sponsored by the Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee, this is an event not to miss.

The irishamericanparade.com site says the parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 11 at Capital Avenue, by the State Capital. You can view the parade route at irishamericanparade.com

A few things that I think are important to note in regards to having a great experience.

There will be road closures by 9:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. this Saturday morning, so don't get yourself all screwed up by missing out on the kick off. Check the parade route for that info.

People in the know recommend getting to the route early to get a great spot. The parade starts at Capitol Avenue takes a left on Main Street, a left on Asylum, a left on Ford Street, and then ends by the Memorial Arch. So make your plan now. Also, while the forecast calls for a bright sunny day, highs will only be in the mid twenties. With a start time of 11 a.m., you know it's going to be wicked cold out there, so prepare for that. Huddling with the masses wears thin pretty quickly.

If you, like me, are not a fan of crowds or the frigid cold, the organizers of the 46th Annual Hartford St. Patrick's Day Parade want you to know you can enjoy it from the comfort of your home. It will be broadcast live on FOX CT WTIC-TV starting at  at 11:30 a.m., and then be rebroadcast at noon on Friday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, on WCCT-TV.

Did you know that i95 has a huge giveaway planned in honor of St. Patrick's Day for you and 19 of your friends? Danbury Titans hockey, food and fun all wrapped up in a private suite. The celebration game is Saturday March 18 and you have until noon on March 13 to get in on it.
