Hudson Valley Scores Big at Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards hosted by Jimmy Kimmel awarded the best TV shows this past Sunday night and the Hudson Valley kicked ass!

According to a recent article in the Poughkeepsie Journal, the most honored prime time show in history, Game of Thrones won its 38th Emmy on Sunday for the Best Drama on television, which stars Peter Dinklage, who's a part time Ulster County resident. Former Vassar College student and Culinary Institute of America graduate, Anthony Bourdain won the Emmy for Outstanding Informational Series or Special. Vassar is located in Poughkeepsie and the Culinary Institute is located in Hyde Park. Score two more for the Hudson Valley!

Part time Ulster County resident, Steve Buscemi took home an Emmy for Park Bench With Steve Buscemi for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series. A show filmed partly in the Hudson Valley, What Happened, Miss Simone? picked up an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction Special.

To be honest, I'm not an awards show guy, only because I usually disagree with the results. For the second year in a row, the show Veep starring Julie Louis-Dreyfus, took home a big one, the Emmy for Best Comedy Series. I don't get it plus the fact that Dreyfus has won the best actress award five years in a row. C'mon already, do the individuals who help determine the Emmy winners actually watch all the shows?! I don't feel any animosity towards Dreyfus, but there are actors and actresses who are loaded up with the funny and the talent who are as good if not better than Dreyfus, or maybe I need to dial down watching never ending reruns of Seinfeld. Why am I such a hater?!
