Thrillest.com just came out with a list of specific hot dog styles from different regions of the country.

Call them what you want, Dogs, Hots, Porkers, Dirty Dogs, Weiners, etc. they are, without a doubt, an integral gastronomical tradition with Americans. Thrillest.com has divided up the greatness of the hot dog into 41 different regions and we are going to examine the Northeast.

NEW YORK CITY

PAPAYA DOG

All beef Sabrett frank in its natural casing grilled and placed on a toasted bun with deli-style mustard, sauerkraut, and the vendor's own version of red onion sauce.

DIRTY WATER DOG

Skinless all beef kosher dog boiled in a tank of questionable sanitary type water, spicy mustard with red onion sauce in a soft white bun.

TEXAS WIENER

All beef deep fried dog topped with spicy mustard, chopped raw onion, and Greek Sauce.

SIMPLE DOG

Could be a Sabrett, Nathans, or Hebrew National dog with a spread of Gulden's or French's Mustard - Grilled or Dirty Water Dog

NORTH JERSEY

ITALIAN DOG

Calzone like mess of a skinny deep fried dog crammed into a half round of pizza bread and topped with heartburn delights like fried or sauteed onions, greasy red peppers, and fried potatoes - Also known as a hangover cure dog.

PHILADELPHIA

TEXAS TOMMY

All beef dog sliced down the middle, stuffed with Cheez Whiz and bacon, grilled and popped on a toasted bun.

PHILLY COMBO

Grilled all beef dog, split down the middle and gently laid down into a wide steamed or toasted bun with coleslaw and just a stripe of spicy mustard and finished up with a fish cake?!!

SALAMI DOG

Char grilled kosher all-beef wrapped in fried kosher salmi, stuffed inside a toasted bun and topped with mustard and a dill pickle.

MAINE RED SNAPPER

Grilled beef or pork frank in its natural casing jammed into a top loading hot dog roll topped with a spoonful of Maine's own Rayes Down East Schooner classic yellow mustard.

RHODE ISLAND

NY SYSTEM WIENER

A grilled all beef dog in its natural casing topped with meat sauce, mustard, chopped raw onion, and celery salt, and placed in a steamed side-cut roll.

BOSTON

FENWAY FRANK

A chubby all beef hot dog stuffed into a New England styled bun with mustard, relish, and maybe some boston baked beans added to the mix.

BALTIMORE 

CRAB MAC N' CHEESE DOG

This was born at Camden Yards, the home of the Baltimore Orioles and includes an all beef dog on a soft chewy bun and then loaded up with crab meat, and gooey macaroni and cheese. Now that's just some good eatin'!
