Whether it's a loved one, friend, musical inspiration or someone who in some other way made an unforgettable impression, every once in a while we all come across a strong reminder of just how much someone who has passed on is missed. Yesterday became one of those days for me when I happened upon this video of Stevie Ray Vaughan at the 1990 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

With Double Trouble (Chris Layton on drums, Tommy Shannon on bass) and his brother Jimmie playing behind him, Stevie is absolutely testifyin' on "The Things I Used to Do." He had recently freed himself from drink and drugs was clearly feeling this new found freedom with every ounce of his soul. It's a powerful performance that I think also serves as a great reminder that whenever you're feeling the passion for whatever moves you, don't be afraid to let it show.

Sadly, we would lose him less than four months after this video was recorded. Thankfully, however, we'll always have the music and the memories. Miss you, Stevie!
