Whether it's dinner, sightseeing, or just letting the kids stick their heads out to catch some air, you have to ride the train in Connecticut.

Okay, just kidding about the kids! But riding the rails somehow makes me think of the happy family dog with it's head out the car window, and joy on it's face. It's sort of how I felt the first time I took a ride on the awesome Essex Steam Train.

Not only are the views great, but you can also do what we did on our first trip. We got off the train and did the River Boat Cruise that is also offered. Yes, right here in Connecticut, you can feel a little bit of a down south river ride. You can book a both the train ride and then boat ride at Essex Steam Train and River Ride.

Never fear though, if the water isn't your thing you can do a date night by booking the Dinner Train ride. Aside from the wow factor of dinner on the train, they offer a wide variety of seasonal events that you can find out about at EssexSteamTrain.com

All aboard.
