Can I get a Mazel Tov, people?!

It's the little things that make life worth living! The bagel burger has arrived in Hartford and I say it's about time. There is a drawback to the arrival of the Bagel Burger. It's only available at Goldberg's Gourmet in West Hartford. You would think that any deli could create their own bagel burger, but it's the Goldberg bagel that truly makes this burger a step above.

The Goldberg bagel is what is called a water bagel, which means the dough is boiled in water first and then baked. That makes for a  crispier crust and chewier bagel. In New York City, if it's not a water bagel, it's unacceptable.

Maybe I'm partial to the bagel because I'm Jewish, but you don't need to be Jewish to enjoy a good bagel, and you don't need to be a Jewish deli to offer a bagel with cream cheese or a bagel, cream cheese, and lox sandwich. There are some delis in the area who don't even carry bagels which will stay unnamed.

My favorite bagels in the Danbury area are Bagelman bagels. Other locations where, in my humble opinion, the bagels are just OK are Stop N' Shop and Dunkin Donuts. What I wish for, is a true Jewish deli in the Danbury area like Rein's Deli in Vernon, Connecticut or Katz's Deli in New York City.  Oy Vey, chopped liver to die for!
