When posters from the Appetite for Destruction era of Guns N' Roses began popping up around the world earlier this week, speculation ran rampant about what it meant, especially when a countdown clock - set to expire at midnight tonight - appeared on the new website GNR.fm. It appears now it's all been a lead up to a mammoth box set of the band's debut record, which came out in 1987, and the details of the super deluxe edition, rumored to be priced at $650, give Gene Simmons recent The Vault set a run for its money in terms of design and content.

According to the fan page Guns N' Roses Central, the band's official YouTube channel accidentally went live with an unboxing video for the super deluxe edition, dubbed "Locked N' Loaded" which was quickly captured by many before being pulled down. It can be viewed below from one fan's Twitter page.

The super deluxe edition comes in an embossed faux leather and wood cabinet and includes a 96-page hardbound book with unreleased photos from Axl Rose’s personal archive, 73 total tracks featuring 49 unreleased tracks, the original Appetite for Destruction expanded to two-LPs featuring the first ever album remaster from analog tapes, with a total of seven 12-inch 180-gram LPs and much, much more. Full details of what's included can be found below.

Among the unreleased songs from the Appetite box reportedly included are 25 songs from the GNR Sound City sessions in 1986 over three-LPs and two tracks from the sessions with producer Mike Clink. One of them is "Shadow of Your Love," which is believed to be the lead single from the package, a snippet of which has been posted at GNR.fm. The song first appeared as a B-side on the 12” picture disc single for “It’s So Easy” in 1987 and then on the flip side of the “Live and Let Die” single in 1991.

A listing has also gone up on Amazon for a four-disc set at a price point of $179.98 with a release date of June 29. It's assumed that will be the date that all editions of the set will be made available.

Billboards featuring the iconic skull logos from Appetite for Destruction went up in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia this week, including those of drummer Steven Adler and guitarist Izzy Stradlin, who aren't a part of the current "Not in This Lifetime" touring lineup which features Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan. The trek is closing in on making a staggering $500 million and enters its ninth leg beginning next month, traveling through Europe and closing out at a July 24 show in Iceland.
