If you're into body art, finding the right artist is a painstaking and often risky task. After all, you're entrusting someone to permanently mark your body with a piece of art that best expresses who YOU are. Unsurprisingly, once we find a tattooist who can accomplish that for us, we are extremely loyal. So who around our area are worthy of such trust and loyalty?

There are so many tattoo artists here in the Greater Danbury area that are no doubt deserving, but alas, there can only be a select few who hold the crown. We recently asked you on our Facebook page to nominate your favorite artist and we got tons of responses. So what we did is go through them all, we put it to you to vote for your favorites and we came up with the top 3 artists in the area. Starting the man who took first place, let's meet them, find out what they love about working here in our local area and check out some of their incredible work:

Anthony Guido - Mackenzie's Tattoo Studio - Lake Carmel

"My name is Anthony Guido, I have been tattooing for fourteen years and work at Mackenzie’s Tattoo Studio in Lake Carmel. I have always had a passion for art from an early age. After High School, I attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where I majored in Illustration. After school, I went on to do animation work for MTV and some children’s book illustration, before pursuing an apprenticeship in tattooing.

I love tattooing all styles, from traditional to black and grey and realism to Japanese and movie portraits. Lately, I’ve also been going a lot of watercolor style tattoos. I love working in the Hudson Valley and Greater Connecticut area because I get to meet all types of different clients from all walks of life, and in turn, get to do so many varied pieces. Everyone has a story, and that’s part of the fun of being a tattooist is interacting with different people everyday. I always like to say 'I’m an artist who tattoos.' I don’t like to pigeonhole myself into one style -- I think it’s more about the client anyway -- taking their vision, then using your craft and talent to turn it into a beautiful piece of art they can wear. That’s what it’s all about for me.

I can be reached on social media via Facebook at facebook.com/anthonygtattoo or Instagram @anthonygtattoos."

Jeannine Palmer - Mystery Ink Tattoo and Piercing - New Milford

"I am a Brookfield native, Mother of two teen boys and owner of Mystery Ink Tattoo & Piercing at 471 Danbury Rd. New Milford. I have been tattooing since 2002 and opened my shop in 2009. I enjoy helping people express themselves through the art that they choose. Being the only artist in the shop, I get to form more personal relationships with clients and sometimes they become close friends."

Brenton Vaughan - Luv Ink Tattoo and Piercing - Danbury

"With 13 years of professional tattooing experience, I’ve had an amazing time being engulfed in the greater Danbury area art scene. I love that our career is all about family, friends and community.

Being a married father of three, life has changed a lot over the years and our art follows those changes. One of my favorite parts of tattooing is being able to share that joy with my clients as they celebrate life’s monumental moments.

As a musician who plays regularly with Danbury band Union Rail, I’m able to see my art work out in the crowds on a regular basis which is both an honor and a never ending excitement.

Working at Luv Ink for the last three years has been an amazing experience. Come check us out for a friendly, personable atmosphere where the top notch artwork is only made better by the shop experience. Thanks to i95 and the greater Danbury area for showing so much love to their favorite artists and to our industry!!"

Congrats to all three of our top vote-getters and thank you to all of the unbelievably talented artists who participated!
