  • Get ready to open your wallet. Connecticut sales tax collection for parking at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic and Hammonassett State Park in Madison begins this weekend. The addition of sales tax to parking at Sherwood Island and other popular state parks was added into the budget that was approved by the legislature.The taxes will be added at all other state parks in the near future.
  • Happy Anniversary to the happiest place on earth! Today is Disneyland's 60th anniversary. The original Disneyland opened on July 17th, 1955 in Anaheim, California. Walt Disney's 160-acre spread included Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street USA. Decades later, there arenow eleven Disney theme parks around the world.
  • There's still no word today on why a 24-year-old man opened fire at a military recruiting office and inside a Naval Reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, killing four Marines. The FBI is investigating Mohammod Youssef Abdulazeez's actions as domestic terrorism and trying to determine if he may have been inspired by ISIS. Abdulazeez was eventually killed by police.
  • Google says their self driving cars aren't the ones causing accidents! What they are saying is the wrecks are caused by drivers who don't pay attention and slam into the driverless cars. The driverless car program chief says the number of crashes increased when the experimental cars moved from freeways to surface streets. He says since the project started six years ago, other drivers have hit Google's cars 14 times and not one self-driving Google car has hit another vehicle. Okay then - good to know!
