According to Intellectual Takeout, the University of Chicago has told their incoming class of Freshman that they do not support or participate in so-called "safe spaces."

Safe spaces, in case you don't know, are places where students can get away from topics like race and sex that may cause them anxiety. Brown University, for example, has a physical place where students can go and eat cookies, play with Play-doh and take naps. The rooms are places where topics like race and sex are forbidden.

Good for the University of Chicago for saying, "No, thank you" to this. It's a complete disservice to young people to let them believe for one second that there is such a thing as a safe space. The world is not safe. There is nowhere to hide from life. It finds you. College students should be encouraged to explore these issues they are hiding from. They should get used to confronting them head on, because they never go away.

You want a safe space? Crawl back into mommy's womb. Hide under your covers in your bedroom with the door locked. Safe spaces do not exist. Life is tough, cherub, get a helmet.
