According to Streetinsider.com on July 19th, the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation presents The 5th Annual Ride For Independence from Fidelco's campus in BloomfieldThis motorcycle fundraiser is to benefit the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation's Blinded Veterans Program. Registration starts at 9am and the ride kicks off at noon.

Riders will enjoy a 50 mile scenic course through the Farmington valley complete with a police escort and then treated to a gourmet barbecue lunch by Black Eyed Sally's and a live southern rock band. You don't need a motorcycle to enjoy the festivities which include vendors, K-9 demonstrations, and Fidelco dogs.

Each Fidelco dog takes 2 years, 15,000 hours, and $45,000 to breed, raise, and train. Fidelco dogs are given to their clients at no cost and provide 24/7 client support for the life of the guide dog, usually about 10 years. Fidelco is supported solely by contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and civic organizations. Fidelco has placed their dogs with police departments, first responders, along with search and rescue organizations. If you don't ride, this is also an amazing event to watch on Sunday, July 19th.
