Things you need to know on June 1.

Thanks to MetroNews Source for the following.

  • It only takes a few trips to the pump to know this one. Gas prices are on the rise. The latest Lundberg survey, released yesterday, finds the average nationwide price of regular is now two-dollars and $.84 per gallon. That's up four cents in the past two weeks and it's the highest price in more than six months.Still better then those almost $5 a gallon prices we were paying awhile back!
  • Batten down the hatches. Here comes Hurricane Season. Today marks the official start of the six-month-long hurricane season. Many forecasts predict a slow season but officials are still urging people to get their families prepared. You can get tips at READY.GOV
  • Lot's of people are not happy about Facebook's "real name" policy and they are heading to their headquarters to protest today. Among those that plan to protest are drag queens, Native Americans and domestic violence survivors who say they are targeted and harassed for no reason. Facebook requires users to have accounts with their real names, and allows people to report accounts created with fake names.
  • How much have you even moved today? Here's our official "smackdown" fromGrandma! On Sunday 92-year-old Harriette Thompson became the oldest woman ever to complete a 26.2 mile race. And to boot, GrandmaHarriette has completed the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego 16 of the 18years it has existed. Well I walked around the i95 office about ten times today - does that count..lol..
