Four Years Later, Newtown’s Officials and Residents Remember

Wednesday, December 14, marks the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre.

It was a day filled with unbearable grief and heartache, which for many continues day after day. According to the Newstimes.com., Newtown's Center for Support and Wellness will be opened extended hours on Wednesday from 7 am until 9 pm. The director of the center, Jennifer Crane told the News Times that you never know when someone just might need a place to go where they feel safe and comforted.

According to CBS Connecticut, First Selectman, Pat Llodra has asked town employees to stop working for 15 minutes between 9:30 and 9:45am.

No work, no phones, no activity should take place during this brief respite. It is time for us to remember those who were killed on that day, and to offer up hopes and supportive thoughts for their families who still, and will forever grieve their loss.

Schools Superintendent, Joseph Erardi told parents that Wednesday will be a full school day that will include quiet reflection and age appropriate messages for students. The town will also lower their flags to half staff. Later in the evening there will be a community remembrance service at Trinity Episcopal Church.
