The New York Yankees just traded Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs for a 20-year-old single A prospect.

Sure, the mindset has always been that the Yankees don't rebuild, but it's time to adapt to this current situation and blow it up.

Chapman had 20 saves for New York this season, and a 2.01 ERA. He had value and they shipped him off to get younger. Bravo. Keep it going. Dump any and everyone with value.

This terrible team is the result of the Yankees going out and spending hundreds of millions of dollars to basically buy the Yanks 2009 World Series Championship. Sure, that was fun and all, but it left us, years later, with aging stars on the tail end of long term deals.

Remember when they went and bought Texiera, A-Rod, CC and Damon? That's where all of this comes from. Now, it's time to keep going.

Beltran has value. Dump him, and get youth. Miller has value. Dump him and get youth back. Down the line, unload all these old guys with bloated contracts. And if you can not get rid of A-rod, if he refuses to go away - and he will -  then pay him, and cut him. Enough with this team.

Not only is it ugly to try and watch them compete, but I don't even like the personalities on the team. They have zero likability.

Fact is, this needs to resemble what Gene "Stick" Michael did years ago when Steinbrenner was out of baseball. In George's absence, Stick did the things he could not do when George was there. He went young, and developed the minor league system. That foundation led to the great Yankee dynasty that included players like Jeter, Mariano, Posada and Pettite. Let's move on.
