According to the News-Times, a case manager at Danbury's Federal Correctional Institution has been sentenced to a year in prison. Kisha Perkins was jailed for getting involved in a scheme that collected money from inmates for possible early release consideration.

Jenkins approached a co-worker in June of 2013 and told her that an inmate's husband was willing to fork over $20,000 for a recommendation that the prisoner be released early to a halfway house.

Even though Jenkins was a unit counselor, she had no authorization to make such a recommendation. The employee chose to contact police and go undercover to help nab Jenkins.

According to Federal prosecutors, the recorded conversations revealed that Jenkins, "Was a corrupt staff member who tried to initiate the bribe scheme and did not hesitate to take take advantage of inmates under her supervision, and was eager to seek out new bribery targets."

Perkins had worked in the Danbury prison system for 18 years before being fired.
