‘Family Mission’ Doc Tells the Story of TJ Lobraico – Fallen Soldier From New Fairfield

On September 5, 2013, 22-year-old Staff Sgt., TJ Labraico, lost his life fighting for his country in Afghanistan.

According to the Danbury Daily Voice, Family Mission: The TJ Lobraico Story is now available on  iTunes and Amazon. This riveting documentary tells the story of a brave young man fighting for his country, who was killed in action when his unit was ambushed while on patrol in  Afghanistan. The documentary not only recounts those chilling events of the battle, as told by members of his team, but also includes the  journey of TJ's short life, as told by family and friends.

Air Force Staff Sgt. TJ Lobraico intentionally ran into enemy fire at the beginning of the firefight to protect his unit. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor. The documentary also explores the deep family connections between his mother, father, and step-father who also served in the Air Force.

I will never forget the afternoon of September 13, 2013. I was driving down Golden Hill Road to get on I-84 West, and as I eased onto the entrance ramp, I noticed there was not one car on the eastbound lanes of I-84. As I slowly accelerated onto the highway, I saw them, three Connecticut State Troopers on motorcycles had stopped all traffic in the eastbound lanes as the hearse carrying Staff Sgt. TJ Lobraico slowly made its way up the entrance ramp onto I-84 East heading for North Cemetery in Sherman -- TJ's final resting place.
