On September 11th, 2001, hundreds of Connecticut residents flooded into Sherwood Island State Park in Westport to glimpse lower Manhattan after the terrorist attacks.

13 Years later, as has become the tradition, a statewide 9/11 memorial service will be held at Sherwood Island again this year on Wednesday, September 10th at 5:30pm to honor the 161 victims with ties to Connecticut. Each of those names will be read aloud.

Other area towns will also be holding memorial services as well.

Danbury will be hosting a Memorial Remembrance Gathering at 6pm this Thursday at Elmwood Park on Main Street.

New Milford's ceremony starts at 8:46 Thursday morning at the 9/11 Memorial on Patriot Drive.

Brookfield will hold a vigil Thursday night at 7 at Town Hall on Pocono Road.

Bethel will hold a memorial Thursday at 6 PM at the Municipal Center.

Ridgefield will hold a memorial ceremony Thursday at 6:30 PM at the 9/11 Memorial, 195 Danbury Road.

New Fairfield will hold a ceremony Thursday at 7 PM at the Senior Center.

Wilton will hold a ceremony at 10am this Thursday in front of their fire station.
