Mindy and I stopped by our neighborhood diner for dinner and were astounded by what we discovered!

As we entered Elmers located at 22 Padanaram Rd. in Danbury the owner, Elmer himself showed us to a comfortable booth and handed us not one, but two menus. The special dinner menu looked like this.

The 'Early Bird Dinner Specials' (if you click the link, make sure to scroll to the bottom of the menu) were offered from 3 pm until 7 pm and not just for senior citizens like myself, but for everyone! Now I'm thinking how much food can you possibly get for $9.95? OMG! Mindy and I ordered the half roasted chicken served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable AND the early bird also came with a cup of soup, salad, and dessert, AND all the food was cooked to perfection.

Talk about a huge bang for your buck! The toughest part about our early bird special was deciding which dessert to choose from. The choices were rice or bread pudding, ice cream, or jello. Mindy was so fascinated by the choices, she posted them on her Facebook page and asked, "Which one would you choose?"

Pudding won out over ice cream by one vote and there was not a single vote for jello which I totally understand. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it that we had to doggy bag for lunch the next day. My point is don't 'pooh-pooh' those early bird specials. They're not just for us seniors.
