Trying to set a world record for the largest Easter Egg hunt which included 500,000 eggs was Sacramento's first big mistake. The second mistake was no organization, so the big kids started trampling over the little kids. The final straw came when the parents got involved and began trampling everyone to grab Easter eggs for their kids. Kids were crying, parents were swearing at the kids and one another. Check it out....

This particular story brought back unpleasant memories of an Easter Egg hunt from years ago when Mary Scanlon was my morning show partner. We talked about how we were sponsoring a weekday Easter Egg hunt on the Green in New Milford. The two of us, along with members of our Promotions Department, set out early to hide the eggs in various locations on New Milford's Green. When we arrived, there were cars already parked as close as they could get to the Green waiting to scope out where, exactly we would be hiding the eggs. When the signal was given to begin the hunt, both adults and their kids jettisoned out of their vehicles and raced around grabbing as many eggs as they possibly could hold while stuffing them into various plastic bags. When all the eggs were discovered, which took around 10 minutes, the kids and their parents raced back to their cars and sped off. I just stood there and couldn't believe what I had just witnessed. Maybe Easter Egg hunts aren't such a good idea with throngs of people. It seems to bring out the "greedy" in both children and adults. Speaking of adults, I think they should be banned from all Easter Egg hunts in the future!
