Last year, Danbury introduced a new summertime tradition for Thursday lunchtime with the Downtown Chow-Down. CityCenter Danbury announced today in a Facebook post that the popular series would be returning for its second year starting May 31.

The Downtown Chow-Down takes place at Kennedy Park, across from the 1 Kennedy Flats apartments. Every Thursday from 11 AM to 2 PM, some great food trucks are set up, live music plays, and people enjoy being outdoors.

While the schedule for music and trucks hasn't been announced yet, if it's anything like last year's Chow-Down series, the food will be excellent. Last year's participants included Rice & Beans, Fork in the Road, Firehouse Grill, DrewbaQ, Weenie Lynn's, the Green Grunion and Cinnamon Churros, just to name a few.

I had to laugh a few times as the Chow-Down events were announced. The reaction ran the gamut from excitement to "some of us have to work, you know." Well, now you know. Thursdays are the day to take a long lunch break and head to Main Street for some yummy eats, games and music. We'll post the schedule as soon as it's announced. In the meantime, mark your calendars and get set to strap on the food bag.
